A group of four Triangle area builders believe they’ve found a unique niche for people who want smaller, upscale, luxury homes with virtually no upkeep.
Rex Bost of Bost Custom Homes brought together the team consisting of Rufty Homes, Sundance Signature Homes and Sage Built to build the Destin Community just over the Chatham County line but still in Cary.
Bost says the idea germinated from a discussion 10 years ago, but it was put on the backburner during the recession. Now the property has been purchased, the other builders are on board and the group has launched Destin high-end homes community located near Barbee Road, that carries an Apex address.
“We found that it just doesn’t exist where you can buy a smaller home – say 2,800 to 4,500 square feet – that’s completely dressed out with the same features, appliances, home automation, energy efficiencies and top-of-the-line finishes that you would get in a multi-million dollar house,” Bost said.
The 40 homes, which would be situated on a half-acre of property, will range between $900,000 and $1.4 million.
